Campbell and Maly highlight all conference team, Culver named Coach of the Year
The Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) announced the 2010-2011 all-conference honors for Division II men's basketball today. Jake Campbell was selected as the player of the year and was joined on the first team by Nick Maly. Head Coach Jeff Culver picked up his third consecutive Coach of the Year honors.
Campbell, a sophomore from Aurora, Colo., was named the Player of the Year following a breakout season in which he ranks number 9 in NAIA Division II in field goal percentage (.596) and leads the Wildcats in scoring with 15.21 points per game. He was also recognized as the A.I.I. Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 22.
Maly, a senior from Broomfield, Colo., will graduate this spring leaving his name as the second leading scorer in program history with 1,012 JWU career points through the conference tournament. Maly averaged 15.11 points per game this season and is .714 from the line. This is the third all-conference accolades that Maly has received while wearing the Wildcats uniform.
Culver guided his squad to their third straight conference title and national tournament appearance. Culver is finishing his sixth season as coach of the Wildcats and has continually shown an improved squad year in and year out.
