Wildcats fall on the road to #23 Fort Lewis

Johnson & Wales headed to Durango on Saturday for an afternoon contest at #23 Fort Lewis College to wrap up the holiday weekend.

The hosts got on the board first and pushed their lead up to a 15-2 advantage over the opening seven minutes. A three point shot by Andrew Romero III (Northglenn, Colo.) allowed the 'Cats to cut the deficit to single digits, trailing 19-10 with 10:46 left in the first half. The Skyhawks put together another run to jump out to a 32-10 advantage over the next four and a half minutes. The 'Cats made a small push but FLC held the 42-21 lead at the break.

The Wildcats had a better start offensively to begin the second half as they were able to match the momentum of Fort Lewis and go bucket for bucket with them early. Each small run the Wildcats tried to make was countered by the Skyhawks as FLC was able to maintain their double-digit lead. Another push by Fort Lewis allowed the Skyhawks to build a 36 point lead with 7:07 left to play. The 'Cats couldn't make up the difference late, falling 66-96 to the 23rd ranked Skyhawks.

Romero led Johnson & Wales with 23 points and brought down 10 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season. Jontrell Herman (Duck Hill, Miss.) added 19 points for the Wildcats in the loss. Rasmus Bach had 20 points for Fort Lewis and Brandon Wilson brought down 16 rebounds.

Johnson & Wales will head to Pueblo on Monday evening for a matchup with Colorado State - Pueblo.
