Wildcats fall to Metro State

The Wildcats hosted Metro State University on a warm afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday.

The 'Cats got on the board first with Josh Williamson (Horseheads, N.Y.) scoring just under two and a half minutes into the opening quarter. The Roadrunners tied the game after the next faceoff and went up 2-1 in the 7th minute. Williamson added his second of the game at 7:11 to even the contest 2-2. Jermiah Preston (Manteca, Calif.) put up the third point for the Wildcats with just under five minutes to play in the opening quarter. The Roadrunners took a 4-3 lead into the start of the second.

Johnny Blottenberger (Baltimore, Md.) tied the game at 4-4 just after the start of the second. Metro State put together a run to take a 8-4 lead into halftime. After 45 minutes of action, the Roadrunners held the 14-4 advantage heading into the final quarter. Malachi Cunningham (Denver, Colo.) put the 'Cats fifth point on the board just after the start of the fourth and Williamson completed the hat trick shortly thereafter with his third of the game. Gage Blottenberger (Severn, Md.) found the back of the net just before the final whistle as the 'Cats fell 20-7 to the Roadrunners.

Evan Longinott (Wallkill, N.Y.) had 12 saves for Johnson & Wales.

The Wildcats will host University of Dallas on Friday, April 14 at 7:00pm at Aurora Sports Park.
