Wildcats fall at Doane

The Wildcats hit the road for the final time this season as they headed to Doane University on Friday afternoon.

Johnson & Wales found themselves down in the fifth minute as the Tiger's Brady Fister found the back of the net. Back to back attempts by JWU in the 8th minute were off target as the Wildcats looked for the equalizer. The Tigers quickly added to their lead in the 10th and 14th minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the game. In the 17th minute, Kyler Fowkes (Arvada, Colo.) forced Doane's Nishesh Yadav to make the stop.

Fergus Bunn (Melbourne, Australia) saw his attempt saved in the 29th minute as the 'Cats continued to look for their first goal of the game. In the 34th minute, Fowkes finally broke through for Johnson & Wales with Mark Ramirez-Tapia (Longmont, Colo.) earning the assist. Michael Genge (Broomfield, Colo.) had two more saves for JWU before the half as JWU trailed 4-1 at the break.

In the second half, Alexis Araiza (Dallas, Texas) had the first shot of the period but Yadav made the stop on his attempt. In the 84th minute, Bunn added the second goal of the game for Johnson & Wales with Ramirez-Tapia picking up his second assist of the day. The Tigers added two more goals in the second half to take the 6-2 win from Johnson & Wales.

Fowkes led Johnson & Wales with three shots on goal and Genge made four saves. The Wildcats will return home to take on #8 Hastings College on Monday at 4pm at Aurora Sports Park.
