Broncos momentum too much for Wildcats

The Wildcats hosted #8 Hastings College in a Monday afternoon matchup at Aurora Sports Park.

The Broncos went up 1-0 in the second minute as a pass across the box found the feet of a streaking Daniel Simonis who put it in from five yards out. Hastings added a second goal in the 8th minute with another pass through the box. The Broncos continued to pepper the 'Cats with shots but their attempts were off target. The Broncos added a third before they were called for a foul in the box and sent Oscar Elias (Lake Elsinor, Calif.) to the spot. Elias converted on the attempt to get Johnson & Wales on the board, trailing 3-1. The Broncos continued to push up their lead, taking a 6-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, Michael Genge (Broomfield, Colo.) made back to back saves in the 49th minute to keep the Broncos off the board early in the period. The Broncos regained their offensive momentum as the period progressed. They continued to control much of the possession and found themselves up 10-1 at the final buzzer.

Elias and Adama Diop (Dakar, Senegal) each had a shot on goal for Johnson & Wales and Genge had five saves in the match.

The Wildcats will host Grace University on Friday, October 27 to open their final weekend of the regular season.
