Men's Volleyball sweeps opening weekend with 3-0 win over Holy Names

The Wildcats entered the weekend hoping that their home court advantage would work in their favor and were happy with the results. The Wildcats held off a strong willed Hawks team in the second set to take the victory 3-0 (25-15, 27-25, 25-15).

Chris Schardt had another stellar performance with 14 kills in the match and an attack percentage of .522. Komakana Fernandez also brought the power and had seven kills of his own. Jorden Smith and Alex Beehner each added five kills to the Wildcats .342 attacking.

Senior Mike Sauro held his own at the net with 32 set assists, five digs and three kills. Smith led the defensive charge with 3.5 blocks in the match. The Wildcats had 13 aces with Schardt notching six and Taylor Martin-Funk adding another four in the set.

The Wildcats will have a short week before hosting Park University in MAMVIC play on Thursday night at 7pm in the Wildcat Center.
