Johnson & Wales traveled to Marshall, Missouri to take on the Vikings of Missouri Valley College. The 'Cats hit the road for the first time the season in which they split the pair of contests.
On Friday night, the Wildcats came out firing in the first set to take it 25-21, but then came up short the rest of the match. The Vikings took the subsequent sets 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 to win the match 3-1. Chris Schardt had 22 kills and a .250 attacking percentage on the night. Mike Sauro setup 28 assists and had five digs.
Saturday morning saw Johnson & Wales come out in dominating fashion, taking the first set 25-12. The Vikings figured out their sluggish start to take the second set 25-20. JWU came back in the final two sets 25-21 and 25-23 to win the match and split the weekend with Missouri Valley College. Schardt and Komakana Fernandez led the charge for JWU with 15 and 10 kills respectively. Fernandez also had a team high 12 defensive digs in the match. Sauro had 36 set assists and eight digs. Jorden Smith had 3.5 blocks in this mornings competition.
The Wildcats go 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in MAMVIC play. They will travel to California in two weeks to take on Hope International University and Holy Names University.
