'Cats drop 0-3 decision to #1 California Baptist

The Wildcats opened their run at the 2011 NAIA National Invitation with a 0-3 (20-15, 16-25, 17-25) loss to #1 California Baptist University.

The first set had both sides keeping one another in check before the Lancers hit their stride and took the win.

In the second and third sets, Cal Bap's defense forced JWU into just a .068 attacking percentage behind Sebastien Steigmeier leading the way. The freshman had a match high 12 kills.

Chris Schardt had seven kills for Johnson & Wales while Jorden Smith added another six. Mike Sauro had 15 assists for the Wildcats and Ryan Schroerlucke had five digs.

JWU will face off against host team Saint Ambrose University at 12:30 PM CDT on Friday for the chance to advance to the semifinals.
