AVCA names Chris Schardt All-American
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) named Johnson & Wales University senior Chris Schardt to the NAIA All-America team for men's volleyball. Schardt leads the NAIA this season in Service Aces per game (.680), Kills per game (4.400), total service aces (73) and ranks second in total kills (471). Schardt guided the Wildcats to a 20-12 season and a national invitational berth. He was also named MAMVIC West Player of the Year following a stellar 2011 season. Chris is the first All-America selection for the Wildcats in all sports. Four student-athletes have previously been recognized as All-America honorable mention.
The selections were made by the AVCA NAIA Men's Volleyball All-America Committee: Bill Gleeson (St. Ambrose University), Paul Lawson (Alverno College), Chad McDole (Graceland University), Ryan McGuyre (California Baptist University), David Schmidlin (Cardinal Stritch University) and John Yehling (Missouri Baptist University).
