Johnson & Wales University is proud to announce that Chris Sandefur has been named head coach of the cross country and track & field programs. Sandefur joins Johnson & Wales after serving as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan University.
Sandefur previously served as Director of Cross Country and Track and Field programs at Lindenwood University - Belleville. With the Lynx, Sandefur saw three runners qualify for the NAIA National Championships. His squad at Lindenwood-Belleville won the 2016 American Midwest Conference (AMC) Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship and advanced several individuals to the NAIA National Championships. Sandefur was named AMC Coach of the Year twice for men's outdoor track.
Prior to Lindenwood University - Belleville, Sandefur spent three seasons as head cross country coach and assistant track coach at Central Methodist University. At CMU, Sandefur coached 15 student-athletes to national championship appearance in both cross country and track & field. His squads at CMU won two Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) championships and picked up two HAAC Coach of the Year honors.
Sandefur served as an assistant coach at University of Louisiana - Monroe in 2010 where he helped coach the men's team to fifth place in the Sun Belt Conference.
He graduated from Lindenwood University - St. Charles with a bachelor's degree in physical education and was a ten-time national qualifier in cross country and track and field. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in education at Central Methodist University.
