Women's Basketball releases 2011-2012 season schedule
The Wildcats will return six players for the upcoming season and welcome three new players to the squad. The ‘Cats schedule is filled with multiple home tournaments giving local fans the opportunity to see some great basketball action.
Coach Jeff Neal and the Wildcats will open the 2011-2012 season at the College of Saint Mary Invitational in Omaha, Nebraska on October 28 and 29. The following week, JWU will host Regis University in an exhibition match. Johnson & Wales will host a combined JWU Classic with the men’s side in early November as the Denver campus will host the North Miami campus in a battle of the Wildcats at the start of a weekend packed with games. The next opportunity to see the ‘Cats at home is just 10 days later as JWU kicks off a home stand of three games with Colorado College on November 15 followed by University of Saint Mary on November 18 and Dickinson State on November 20.
December will see the Wildcats making their first trip to Phoenix to take part in the Arizona Christian Classic matching up against both host Arizona Christian University and Rocky Mountain College. JWU will finish the home and home series with Colorado College on December 13 in Colorado Springs and host Valley City State University on the 17th. The team will close out 2011 with Midland University and Concordia University.
The new year will kick off with the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs making the trip north to the Wildcat Center on January 3. The ‘Cats will travel to Arizona and North Dakota within the span of eight days before hosting Arizona Christian and Northern New Mexico in conference game in mid-January.
JWU returns to the cold in late January with games at South Dakota School of Mines and Black Hills State who both will travel to the Mile High City the following weekend. Senior Day will take place on February 4 prior to the start of the South Dakota School of Mines game. The Wildcats will finish the season at Northern New Mexico before the A.I.I. Conference Tournament at Dakota State University in Madison, SD.
