Shirley's 28 points not enough in loss at Valley City State

The Wildcats closed out their MLK weekend roadtrip to North Dakota with a hard fought 65-74 loss to Valley City State University on Sunday. The 'Cats struggled in the first half going into the break down 22-34. In the second half, both offenses exploded with JWU outscoring the Vikings 43-40 but couldn't make up enough ground to overcome the first half deficit.

Kourtney Shirley led all scorers with 28 points for Johnson & Wales while Cailtin Durkin and Jasmine Culbreath each had a game high 11 rebounds. Katelyn Ralston had 17 points for the Vikings and Courtney Titus had 9 rebounds.

Johnson & Wales will host Northern New Mexico College and Arizona Christian University on Friday and Sunday in a pair of A.I.I. matchups.
