The Wildcats hit the road to open their 2017-18 season with a Friday evening contest against Nebraska Christian College.
After a back and forth start to the first quarter, Johnson & Wales started to pull away midway through the opening period. The 'Cats had built an 18-10 lead at the end of the first quarter with nine team rebounds. In the second quarter, The 'Cats offense continued to roll as they pushed their lead up to 28-18 after the opening 20 minutes of play.
In the third quarter, Johnson & Wales shook off some of the late first half rust and pushed their lead up to 44-27 midway through the third. After the third quarter, JWU led the Sentinels 52-36. The hosts started to make up some ground in the fourth but the Wildcats had built enough of an advantage to hold off for the 62-45 win.
The two squads will meet again on Saturday at 2:00 pm Central.
