The Wildcats headed to Adams State for a Tuesday evening matchup in Alamosa.
A slow start to the opening frame saw the 'Cats trailing by a point at the five minute mark. The Grizzlies went up 12-6 with two minutes left in the first quarter. Adams State started to pull away in the final minute as they took a 17-8 lead into the second. The Wildcat's offense stalled in the second quarter as Adams State went on a 33-7 run to take a 50-15 lead into halftime.
The second half began with Johnson & Wales starting better offensively. They were able to hit some of their shots while also getting stops at the other end of the court to slow ASU's offense. After three quarters, JWU trailed 29-74. In the fourth, JWU continued to push their offense and did better defensively to slow the pace of Adams State. The 'Cats added another 15 points in the quarter but the big second quarter allowed Adams State to take the 86-44 victory.
Andromeda Sales (Black Hawk, Colo.) led JWU with 16 points and Dominique Riley (Arvada, Colo.) added another 11. Brianna Aluya (Placentia, Calif.) brought down six boards for Johnson & Wales. Macy Meyers led five Grizzlies in double-digit scoring with 13 points. Meyers and Lauren McDonald each had seven rebounds.
The Wildcats return to action next Wednesday when they travel to Colorado College.
