Johnson & Wales hit the road for a game against Haskell Indian Nations University on the campus of College of the Ozarks.
The first quarter began with the two teams trading buckets early. Midway through the quarter, Haskell held an 8-7 lead on Johnson & Wales. The Indians started to pull away late in the quarter and took a 21-9 lead into the second. The 'Cats offense struggled to get going in the second as HINU pushed the lead up to a 30 point advantage. Andromeda Sales (Black Hawk, Colo.) got the first points of the quarter for Johnson & Wales with just under five minutes to play in the half. Haskell's defense held Johnson & Wales to just six points in the quarter and took a 54-15 lead into the break.
JWU's offense started out slow again in the third as they put up just five points in the period. After 30 minutes of play, JWU trailed 65-20. The fourth quarter had the Wildcats start to break through and put up 23 points in the quarter. JWU's run was too late as they fell 43-77.
Brianna Aluya (Placentia, Calif.) led Johnson & Wales with 18 points and Allison Butler (Del Norte, Colo.) added 13. Both Aluya and Butler also had five rebounds for the Wildcats. Keli Warrior finished with 18 points for Haskell.
The 'Cats will take on #3 College of the Ozarks on Saturday.
