DENVER - The Johnson & Wales women's basketball team finished eighth in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll released by the conference on Tuesday.

Coach Bob Kintzel is set to start his third season leading the JWU Wildcats as they begin their first campaign in the SCAC.

Junior guard Salma Oros (Youngker, AZ) is the Wildcats' top returner after starting all 22 games a season ago. Oros averaged 3.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists as a sophomore.

The Wildcats also welcome back senior guard Dominique Riley (Arvada, CO), who averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in eight games last season, along with sophomore guards Ashley Mortensen (Thornton, CO) and Ashlea Carothers (Elbert, CO).

Kintzel will have a young group in 2018-19 with the addition of eight freshmen to the roster. The Wildcats open the season Friday, Nov. 9 at home against Mississippi University of Women. Tip is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.
