Johnson & Wales took on Southwestern University on Saturday in their final game of the 2018 season.
Madison Herbert (Berthoud, Colo.) made the save on the first shot she faced in the game as Southwestern looked to get on the board early. The hosts jumped out to an early 5-0 lead through the first seven minutes of play. Herbert continued to come up big for Johnson & Wales making several stops throughout the first half. At the break Southwestern led the Wildcats 15-0. In the second, the Wildcats were able to slow the Pirate's offense. Ashley Guerrero (Downey, Calif.) took a pass from Jennifer Aragon (Tyler, Texas) and put it past the Southwestern keeper to put the Wildcats on the board at 3:25.
Despite a better second half defensive effort the Wildcats fell 20-1 in the season finale. Herbert and Guerrero each had four ground balls for Johnson & Wlaes in the loss. Herbert had 16 saves for the 'Cats in the loss.
