The Wildcats hit the road for the first time in 2017 as they headed to Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa on Friday afternoon.
The Chargers put JWU's Katelyn Peters (Brighton, Colo.) to the test early in the contest with a shot on goal in the third minute, but Peters came up with the stop to hold off the early attempt. Briar Cliff continued to look for an early goal with Peters stepping up to three more saves in the opening 20 minutes. After 45 minutes of play, the two teams entered the break with a 0-0 draw on the table. In the second half, the Chargers put one in the back of the net with a shot by Makenna Taylor in the 47th minute.
Chloe Arredondo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) put a shot on goal that BCU's Libby Havenridge made the save on to keep the 'Cats off the board. The Chargers added their second of the game in the 67th minute but continued to press for more. Peters made four more saves before the Chargers added a third goal from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute.
The Wildcats were held to two shots on goal in the contest and Peters made 10 saves for the Wildcats.
Johnson & Wales will take on Morningside College on Sunday in Sioux City to wrap up their roadtrip.
