Mustang's offense too much for Wildcats

The Wildcats closed out their Labor Day weekend roadtrip to Iowa with a Sunday afternoon contest at Morningside College.

The Mustangs got on the board early with a goal in the first minute to quickly set the tone of the match. The Mustangs would double the score just a few minutes later as Merle Bublitz netted her second of the match in the fourth minute. In the first half, Morningside peppered the Wildcat's defense with six shots in the opening period. Natasha Martin (Las Vegas, Nev.) had one shot on target for Johnson & Wales in the first half.

As the second period got underway, the Mustangs again doubled their lead with two goals in the 54th and 57th minutes to take a 4-0 lead. The Mustang's offense continued to press Johnson & Wales with 11 shots in the period. Chloe Arredondo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) broke up the shutout for Johnson & Wales with a late 89th minute goal as the 'Cats fell 4-1.

Martin had two shots on goal for Johnson & Wales and Katelyn Peters (Brighton, Colo.) made three saves.

The Wildcats return home where they will take on Dordt College on Saturday, September 9 at 12:00 PM.
