The Wildcats kicked off October with a 1-0 win over University of Dallas on Friday afternoon at Aurora Sports Park.
Asianna Harris (Las Vegas, Nev.) broke open the game for Johnson & Wales in the 6th minute, taking a cross from Rebecca Brock (Amarillo, Texas) and getting it past UD's Olivia Severson. Katelyn Peters (Brighton, Colo.) came up with two stops for Johnson & Wales in the 10th and 14th minutes to keep JWU with the 1-0 advantage. The Crusaders and the Wildcats traded possession for most of the first period with neither side putting much pressure on the other's defense. At the break, Johnson & Wales led 1-0.
In the 52nd minute, Le Lien sent her first attempt wide of goal as the Crusaders looked to find the equalizer. Peters had another saves for Johnson & Wales in the 63rd minute, making a stop on the attempt by Elisa Duran. Harris sent her 68th minute attempt wide as she looked to double her Friday goal total. Peters made the stop in the 82nd minute as Dallas pushed JWU. The Crusaders had another attempt in the 88th minute, but the shot from Le Lien glanced off the crossbar and JWU earned the 1-0 victory.
Harris had both attempts for Johnson & Wales and Peters finished with four saves.
