Wildcats compete at Air Force

The Wildcats opened May on the road in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy's Twilight Open on Friday afternoon.

In the women's 100 meter sprint, Brandi Williams-Beck (San Antonio, Texas) finished in third place with a time of 12.45 seconds followed by Kelci Freeman (Ramona, Calif.) in fourth at 13.90 seconds. The 200 meter event has Williams-Beck finish in fifth at 25.70 and Freeman in seventh at 28.80. Samantha Barela (Colorado Springs, Colo.) won the small fielded 1500 meter event with a time of 5:13.78.

On the field side, Katie Malchinski (Stevensville, Mont.) finished in fifth in the high jump, clearning 1.50 meters. She also had a distance of 4.46 meters in the long jump. Sandy Chavez (San Bernardino, Calif.) had a throw of 9.00 meters in the shot put and 26.00 meters in the discus.

The Wildcats will wrap up the regular season with a pair of meets at Colorado School of Mines on Friday and Sunday.
