'Cats open weekend at Mines

The Wildcats made the first of two trips to Golden on Friday for the first Last Chance meet hosted by Colorado School of Mines.

In the 100 meter race, Brandi Williams-Beck (San Antonio, Texas) finished first with a time of 12.72 ahead of Kelci Freeman (Ramona, Calif.) came across the finish line in second with a time of 13.63. In the 200 meters, Williams-Beck came in first at 25.69 followed by Freeman in third at 28.07. The 5000 meter event, Samantha Barela (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished in fourth place with a time of 20:09.66.

Katie Malachinski (Stevensville, Mont.) cleared 1.50 meters in the high jump competition to wrap up the Friday events.

The 'Cats will return to Golden on Sunday to close out the season in the Sunday Last Chance meet.
