Tom Byrnes, Director of Athletics at Johnson & Wales University, has announced that Alicia Roth has been named head coach of the Wildcat volleyball program.

Roth joins JWU after serving as associate head coach at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. As a member of the Demon's coaching staff, she worked with the NSU setters and defensive specialists. Roth served as recruiting coordinator for Northwestern State as well as managed fundraising and travel.

Prior to NSU, Roth was a graduate assistant for two seasons at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. As a graduate assistant, Roth expanded on her duties to assume many responsibilities of a full-time assistant and worked with the Camel's defensive players. She handled summer camps and CU volleyball's social media.

Roth played collegiately at Samford University, where she was a four-year letterwinner and was named captain in her senior season. Roth earned her Bachelors degree from Samford in Sports Administration and her Masters degree from Campbell University in Education.

On the hire, Byrnes said "I am excited for Coach Roth to join our staff and lead our women's volleyball program. Her past experiences have prepared her for this opportunity to guide our program to the next level.  Her enthusiasm and work ethic coupled with her concern for the academic, social and athletic development of the students-athletes is a perfect fit for Johnson & Wales."
