The Wildcats began their final weekend of the season with a pair of matches against NCAA Division II opponents in Kansas.
The first match feature the 'Cats taking on Pittsburg State University. In the opening set, PSU used small scoring runs to open up a 19-12 lead on their way to the 25-15 victory. In the second set, Pittsburg State went up 11-4 as they used the momentum to build some distance. The 'Cats pulled a few points back but PSU held on for the 25-16 victory. In the third, the Wildcats went up 4-1 but PSU rallied to tie the set 9-9. A pair of scoring bursts allowed PSU to take the 25-21 win and the three set victory.
In the second set of the day, the Wildcats faced Fort Hays State University. The Tigers opened the set on a 5-0 run on their way to a 14-1 lead midway through the set. The 'Cats tried to make up some ground but FHSU took the 25-10 victory. In the second set the Tigers again started out with with an 11-3 advantage. The 'Cats couldn't make up the difference and fell 10-25. The third set saw FHSU use small scoring bursts to power their way to a 25-16 win.
Ruehs had 14 assists for the Wildcats and had seven digs.
The Wildcats will wrap up their season on Sunday at #5 Nebraska-Kearney.
