Colorado native, Lara Bossow, was named head coach of the Wildcats in February of 2011.
Bossow has a long list of volleyball accomplishments beginning with High School. Bossow earned three all-conference awards and was the 2002 Player of the Year at Vail Mountain School. She guided Vail to a 62-27 record in four seasons, including a 25-2 mark as a senior. She garnered Colorado All-State Tournament honors in 2001 and led VMS to district and regional championships her junior and senior seasons. As a senior she was All-State and played club ball for Front Range who was the Rocky Mountain Regional and Far Western Champions.
Bossow went on to play Middle Blocker at University of Colorado Boulder through the falls of 2003 through 2006. In 2005 Bossow led CU with a .369 hitting percentage, which ranks second on the CU single season record book. It is the best hitting percentage for a middle blocker in CU history. In 2004 Bossow led Colorado in blocking with 104 and was the first Buffalo to reach 100 for the season for many years. She tied a school record for blocks in a 3-game match with a career-high 11 setting the school record for a sophomore.
Bossow continues to play volleyball by participating in local leagues, sand volleyball, etc.
Although a communications major, Bossow always knew that her real passion was for the game of volleyball and for coaching. Since graduation she has coached high school at Eagle Valley High School for 2 years and wend on to be the Head Coach of Battle Mountain High School. In 2010 Bossow was the Volunteer Assistant Coach at Regis University. She has also coached club volleyball since graduation at Lightning Volleyball Club for 2 seasons, and is in her second season coaching for Juggernaut Volleyball Club.
Bossow is currently pursuing her Masters in Elementary Education.
JR Rainbolt

Coach "JR" Rainbolt has been with the Wildcat
program since July 2006. He has 30 years of coaching
experience and started his coaching career in 1981 while
serving in the U.S. Army. He coached at a variety of programs on
military bases both in the United States and Germany. He has
coached women’s and men’s basketball, women’s
softball, men’s soccer and women’s
volleyball. He is currently a regional volleyball
referee with USA Volleyball. He has his Impact and CAP
I USA Volleyball certifications. Coach JR’s
responsibilities include working with the Wildcat
defense, servers, and assisting with
recruitment.
Coach JR served as a Special Agent Criminal Investigator
with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) from May
1979 until May 1999. After retiring, JR and his
family moved to Colorado where he currently works as a
Security Specialist with the U.S. Air Force. JR has been
married to wife Yvonne for 27 years and they
have three children Christy, Nicole and Dylan that
are currently enrolled in college.
JR has a Master of Arts Degree in Forensic Psycho-Physiology from Argosy University -Washington, D.C., aBachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts (emphasis in psychology) from the University Of New York- Albany NY, and an Associate of Arts Degree in Police Science and Administration from Austin Peay State University-Clarksville, TN.
