JWU SAAC to host Unified basketball game with Special Olympics

JWU SAAC to host Unified basketball game with Special Olympics

DENVER – The Johnson & Wales' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is inviting all JWU students to participate in a game of hoops with our friends from Special Olympics on Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.

Participants should arrive at 5 p.m. for a meet and greet with the Special Olympics athletes before breaking off for some basketball scrimmages.

For those unfamiliar with Unified Sports, "Special Olympics is dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding."

Students who are interested should contact a SAAC rep or head volleyball coach Alicia Roth (aroth@jwu.edu).
