JWU Denver Athletics' message against social injustice

JWU Denver Athletics' message against social injustice

A collaborative message from JWU Denver coaches, staff members and administrators:

Johnson & Wales University-Denver athletics takes pride in its racially diverse community and strives to uphold a culture that is inclusive, equitable and understanding. We are collectively outraged by the continued social injustice that has plagued our country for far too long.

The tragic killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and so many others have brought to light issues in our society that need be addressed immediately.

There should be zero tolerance in our country for racism and systemic social injustice.

We are heartbroken for people of color in our community. Some of us know what it's like to be judged and stereotyped by the color of our skin. Some of us do not. From those of us who do not, we want you to know we are your allies. We're here for you. We hear you. We love you. Together, we are committed to providing support and outreach for those who experience racism and prejudice on a daily basis and pledge to take an active role in creating change by helping develop our campus' new center for multicultural engagement to be active as early as this fall.

We take the Wildcat Way – living with Pride, Character, Courage and Community – to heart. Acts of racism, discrimination and hatred are intolerable, and they must be confronted and eradicated promptly and swiftly.
