JWU wrapped up the weekend with a Saturday evening contest at #24 Bellevue University.
The Bruins got off to a hot start, opening the game on a 13-4 run over the first four minutes of action. Bellevue continued to push the offensive tempo and had extended their lead to 28-16 through the opening 10 minutes. JWU tried to chip away but the Bruins maintained their shooting and led by 22 with just over four minutes left in the half.
The Bruins continued to hit their shots and took a 61-28 lead into the break. In the first half, the Wildcats shot .344 while BU shot .645 from the floor.
In the second half, JWU found some early momentum and chipped away at the Bruin's lead. After a slow start to the period, Bellevue regrouped and again built up their advantage.
The 'Cats couldn't counter the Bruins late push as BU took the 94-62 victory.
Andrew Romero III (Northglenn, Colo.) led Johnson & Wales with 23 points and Andrew Bonner (Flagstaff, Ariz.) added 17 points. Three Wildcats had five rebounds each and both Romero and Jontrell Herman (Duck Hill, Miss.) had five assists each.
The Wildcats stay on the road next weekend with games against Sterling College and Tabor College.
