The Wildcats headed down I-25 on Tuesday night for a contest at NCAA Division I Air Force. The two teams started fairly even, matching eachother bucket for bucket. The host Falcons started to gain some momentum midway through the opening half as Johnson & Wales saw their offense stall. After 10 minutes of play, the Falcons led JWU 26-10.
The 'Cats started to hit their shots and began to chip away at Air Force's lead but the Falcons continued to maintain their offensive rhythm. After 20 minutes of play, the Falcons led Johnson & Wales 53-33.
The Falcons started the second half with the same momentum and quickly stretched their lead to 24. After the first 10 minutes of the period, the Falcons had pushed their lead up to 30 points as JWU tried their best to maintain the same offensive output. By the final buzzer, Air Force had taken the 105-62 win.
Andrew Romero III (Northglenn, Colo.) led Johnson & Wales with 16 points and Jontrell Herman (Duck Hill, Miss.) added 12. Herman and Andrew Bonner (Flagstaff, Ariz.) each had seven rebounds for JWU. Ryan Manning led Air Force with 21 points and two Falcons had six rebounds each.
The Wildcats travel across town on Wednesday night to take on Regis University.
