The Wildcats continued their busy week with a road contest across town at Regis University on Wednesday night.
The host Rangers opened the game on a 11-2 run over the first five minutes of play. The hot start by Regis continued as they extended their lead to 24-11 through the opening 10 minutes. The Wildcats tried to chip away but the Rangers maintained their momentum. Each time Johnson & Wales would make some headway, Regis would counter with a small run to pull away.
By halftime, the 'Cats trailed 27-44.
In the second half, the Wildcats tried to maintain the same offensive pace that the Rangers opened the second half with. The 'Cats continued to hit their shots down the stretch trying to cut into the Regis lead. A late push by the Rangers helped them hold off the Wildcats for the 64-90 win.
Andrew Romero III (Northglenn, Colo.) had a game high 17 points for Johnson & Wales and Jontrell Herman (Duck Hill, Miss.) added 16 more. Aaron Stone (Elizabeth, Colo.) had seven rebounds for the Wildcats in the loss. Dexter Sienko led Regis with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Wildcats head to South Dakota for a Friday evening matchup against Presentation College.
