The Wildcats wrapped up the weekend with a neutral court contest against Oglala Lakota College in Rapid City, South Dakota on Saturday.
The 'Cats started strong, jumping out to an early 12-3 advantage. The Wildcats continued to lead through much of the first half but the Bravehearts started to make up some of the difference. With under five minutes to play, OLC had cut the Wildcat's lead down to five points. The two sides traded buckets over the final few minutes with JWU taking a 37-30 lead into the break.
The Bravehearts opened the second half with four consecutive three point buckets as the 'Cats were able to manage the OLC offensive output. Throughout the second half, Oglala Lakota kept the Wildcats within striking distance. Johnson & Wales maintained their rhythm to keep up their lead agains the hot shooting Bravehearts.
OLC came within a point with 4:11 left in the game but Johnson & Wales again built up their lead, finishing the game on an 11-6 run to take the 92-86 win.
Andrew Romero III (Northglenn, Colo.) and Andrew Bonner (Flagstaff, Ariz.) each had 21 points for Johnson & Wales and Marshall Moore (Albuquerque, N.M.) had 14 points. Romero led JWU with eight rebounds. Carl Swallow had 20 points for the Bravehearts and Ronald Rousseau finished with 11 rebounds.
The Wildcats will return to the court on November 26 at Dickinson State.
