Wildcats close out 2016 with victory

The Wildcats head into the winter break with an eight game win streak after winning every game in December. The 'Cats hosted Dine College on Saturday afternoon in the Wildcat Center.

The 'Cats came out of the opening tip with dominating force, jumping out to an early 9-1 lead in the first two and a half minutes. The visiting Warriors picked up points but were never able to keep up with the offensive output of the Wildcats. A four point play from Zach Jones (Loveland, Colo.) gave the 'Cats the 18-7 lead with 13:48 left in the first half. The 'Cats bench came up with some big time offense as they maintained JWU's early momentum and pushed ahead to a 44-20 halftime lead.

In the second half the Wildcats continued to roll with big dunks to keep the crowd's energy into the game. The give and go passing between the 'Cats allowed them to extend their lead to 46 midway through the half. The 'Cats offense never relented as they held on for the 98-47 victory.

Andrew Bonner (Flagstaff, Ariz.) led all players with 31 points and had a team high 11 rebounds. Urian Yazzie had 17 points for Dine College and Raphael Overturf finished with a game high 18 rebounds.

Johnson & Wales returns to action on January 13 at home when they host Oglala Lakota College at 7pm.
