JWU come up short against Ozarks

The Wildcats wrapped up the weekend on Saturday afternoon with a conference loss to College of the Ozarks in Kansas.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 10-2 lead through the first two minutes of play. The 'Cats began to hit their shots and claw their way back into the game. As the Wildcats started to makeup some ground, College of the Ozarks began to pull away again. The Bobcats maintained their double digit throughout much of the first half as the 'Cats struggled to maintain the same offensive output. After the first 20 minutes, College of the Ozarks led 48-30.

The second half got underway with the Bobcats adding a quick 7-0 run to extend their lead. Johnson & Wales made small strides but College of the Ozarks maintained their momentum to continue to lead the 'Cats. With 9:34 to play in the game, Andrew Bonner (Flagstaff, Ariz.) hit a jumper to become the all time leading scorer for Johnson & Wales with 1,192 points, surpassing Eric Daniels (Salt Lake City, Utah - 2004-2008) who finished his career with 1,191 points. The Wildcats fell to the Bobcats 60-96 in the conference contest.

Bonner finished the game with a team high 15 points to wrap up the day with 1,196 career points. Jontrell Herman (Duck Hill, Miss.) finished with seven assists for JWU. Cameron Paschke led the Bobcats with 26 points and two players had 10 rebounds each.

The Wildcats will face the Bobcats again on Friday when they take on College of the Ozarks in the second A.I.I. Classic hosted by Northern New Mexico College.
