'Cats drop road contest to Grizzlies

The Wildcats traveled to southern Colorado on Saturday for an evening contest at Adams State University.

The host Grizzlies began the game on a 12-4 run over the first four minutes of play. Adams State continued to push the tempo of the contest as they built up a 21-8 lead after seven minutes. The 'Cats started to make up some ground, cutting into the ASU lead but Adams regrouped and their lead up to a 24 point advantage with 7:07 left in the half. The 'Cats continued to chip away but Adams State held on to take a 56-32 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Grizzlies maintained their offensive output as they kept a nearly 30 point lead for much of the opening minutes. The Wildcat had a stronger second period as they outscored the Grizzlies 44-42 but their first half deficits were too much to overcome as Adams State took the 98-76 victory.

Andrew Romero III (Northglenn, Colo.) led all players with 31 points and was a perfect 15 for 15 from the free throw line. Jontrell Herman (Duck Hill, Miss.) had 17 points and a team high eight rebounds in the loss.

Johnson & Wales will travel to Salt Lake City next weekend for a pair of games at Westminster College.
