The Wildcats wrapped up their fifth game in five days on Sunday evening at Presentation College.
The host Saints opened the evening matchup on a 10-3 run to assert themselves early. The 'Cats made small strides but each run they would make would see Presentation counter with one of their own. A jumper by Andrew Romero III (Northglenn, Colo.) allowed JWU to cut the deficit to four points with 8:04 left in the first half. The Wildcats continued to chip away until Jontrell Herman (Duck Hill, Miss.) hit a field goal to but Johnson & Wales up 28-27. JWU continued to push their lead, taking the 43-35 advantage into the break.
In the second half, Presentation College opened the period on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 43 just 2:15 into the second. The next few minutes passed with the two sides trading buckets but keeping the other within a possession or two. With 12:55 left in the game the Saints led 59-54 and started to feel the momentum swinging in their favor. The Wildcats couldn't get the shots to fall in the final 10 minutes to catch back up to the Saints, falling 86-98.
Herman led the Wildcats with 32 points and Romero added another 31. Herman had a team high seven rebounds for Johnson & Wales. Julius Jackson had 24 points for Presentation and Quadre Lollis brought down 10 boards. The 'Cats will have a couple of days off now before they travel to New Mexico Highlands next weekend for a post-Thanksgiving matchup with the Cowboys.
