Romero becomes career points leader in 'Cats loss

The Wildcats headed to Espanola, New Mexico for a pair of weekend contests at Northern New Mexico College.

The conference matchup was a back and forth affair throughout the night with Johnson & Wales holding the 30-29 advantage after the opening 20 minutes of play. In the second half, Andrew Romero III (Northglenn, Colo.) scored his 17th point of the game late in the game to hit 1,269 points. He moved into the top spot on Johnson & Wales University's career scoring list, surpassing former teammate Andrew Bonner '17. The host Eagles held off a late push by JWU to take the 66-62 conference win.

Jontrell Herman (Duck Hill, Miss.) led all scorers with 22 points and Romero finished with 20 points. Romero brought down nine rebounds for Johnson & Wales and had four assists.

The two teams will face each other again on Saturday afternoon.
