HOUSTON - The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team dropped its first SCAC road game of the season Sunday, falling 88-51 at the University of St. Thomas.
Sophomore Charles Young led the Wildcats with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists. Freshman Kaleb Atherley added 10 points and 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
The conference-leading Celts (9-0, 3-0) shot 48.1 percent from the field, made 10 3-pointers and forced 25 JWU (2-8, 1-2) turnovers. Ten different Celts scored at least six points as the hosts leaned on a balanced scoring effort to remain unbeaten on the season.
Freshman Jaerron Hunter finish with seven assists while classmate Mason Beauman totaled seven boards for the Wildcats, who continue their road trip Monday at Centenary.
