IRVING, TX - The Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team came up short in an SCAC road contest at the University of Dallas on Friday night.

Freshmen forwards Andray Thomas Jr. and Kaleb Atherley scored 20 points each for the visiting Wildcats, but wasn't enough against the hot-shooting Crusaders, who shot 62.5 percent from the floor to claim a 78-66 victory.

Thomas added a team-high 10 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season for JWU Denver (2-17, 1-11). Sophomore Charles Young added 12 points, four assists and four steals while freshman Jaerron Hunter finished with eight points and five assists.

Dusin Mathis scored 20 points to lead the Crusaders, who never trailed and led 33-21 at hafltime.

JWU took good care of the ball with just 11 turnovers and had a 36-13 edge in points off turnovers, but fell short in bench scoring to the tune of a 23-2 deficit.

The Wildcats wrap up the weekend Saturday at Austin College.
