Wildcats place 6th at Oregon Tech Invite

EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Junior Alex Fernandez (St. Johns, FL) carded a third-round 77 on Sunday to lead the Johnson & Wales University men's golf team to a sixth place finish at the Oregon Tech Spring Invite.

Fernandez finished with a three-round total of 244 (+28) to place 18th individually at Eagle Point Golf Club. The third-round 77 marked Fernandez's best of the spring season.

Classmate James Shalhoup (North Easton, MA) placed 29th following his round of 86 on Sunday for a tournament total of 254 (+38). Sophomore Manny Garcia (Lakewood, CO) and freshman Andrew Thimjon (Hillsboro, OR) finished 33rd and 34th, respectively for JWU Denver.

Garcia turned in his best round of the spring on Sunday with an 83 to finish at 268 (+52) while Thimjon carded a 92 for a 269 (+53). Freshman Steven Gadient (Shelbyville, IN) fired a 92 on Sunday to finish tied for 35th at 273 (+57).
