Fernandez paces Wildcats at Bob Writz

DENVER – Junior Alex Fernandez (St. Johns, FL) shot a second-round 76 on Sunday to finish tied for 28th to lead the Johnson & Wales University men's golf team at the Bob Writz Invitational.

Fernandez finished +12 for the two-round tournament at Bear Creek Golf Club after opening with an 80 on Saturday. He now has at least one round in the 70s in six of seven events this year.

Junior James Shalhoup (North Easton, MA) bounced back in big way Sunday following his opening-round 88, turning in his best round as a Wildcat with a 3-over 75. Shalhoup placed in a tie for 48th after starting the day T65.

Freshman Steven Gadient (Shelbyville, IN) (88-86-174) placed T65 at +30 while fellow freshman Andrew Thimjon (Hillsboro, OR) (92-98-190) finished 69th. JWU Denver placed 10th as a team with a total of 677.
