BLANCO, TX – The Johnson & Wales men's golf team concluded their inaugural season Tuesday with the third and final round of the SCAC Men's Golf Championship.
JWU junior Alex Fernandez (St. Johns, FL) finished tied for 16th at +16 for the tournament to lead the Wildcats. Fernandez shot 82 on Tuesday to bring his three-round total to 232 (76-74-82). Fernandez made nine pars in his third round and 34 in the tournament, ranking eighth in the field.
Sophomore Manny Garcia (Lakewood, CO) fired an 87 in Tuesday's third round, finishing 31st individually at +38 (83-84-87—254). Garcia's round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 16th, the second time in the tournament he made a 4 on the hole.
Freshman Steven Gadient (Shelbyville, IN) had his best round of the tournament Tuesday, shooting 89 to finish 33rd individually at +60 (94-93-89—276). Gadient had a birdie in all three rounds, including a 4 on the par-5 8th on Tuesday.
Freshman Andrew Thimjon (Hillsboro, OR) also had his best round of the championship on Tuesday with a score of 86. Thimjon placed 34th at +65 for the tournament (96-99-86—281).
JWU finished seventh as a team with a three-round total of 1,043.
