Wildcats fall at Adams State

Johnson & Wales headed to Adams State for a Sunday afternoon matchup with the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies tested Wiley Cates (Montclair, N.J.) early in the game, but Cates made two saves to keep them off the board. Deshuante Longley (Bronx, N.Y.) found the back of the net just under three minutes into the game after the 'Cats successfully cleared the ball from their defensive zone. ASU's offense started to heat up as they went ahead 6-1 after the opening quarter. In the second, the Grizzlies continued to extend their lead but a great defensive showing by Cates allowed Johnson & Wales to limit their opportunities. At the break, ASU led 14-1.

In the second half, the Grizzlies maintained their offense and extended their lead to capture the 27-1 victory. Longley had a team high three shots on goal and Jean-Sebastien Vila (Fort Worth, Texas) had three ground balls. Cates had 20 saves for Johnson & Wales.

The Wildcats head to the Western slope this weekend for a Friday night contest at Colorado Mesa University and a Sunday afternoon contest against Westminster College.
