Johnson & Wales headed over the Rocky Mountains for a Friday night contest at #16 Colorado Mesa University.
Coleton Threlkeld (Cypress, Texas) started in goal for the Wildcats and had two early saves in the opening minute as the Mavericks looked to assert themselves early. CMU put on in the back of the net at 14:11 to give Colorado Mesa the 1-0 lead. The Mavericks continued to control the offensive aspect of the game, pushing their lead up to 21-0 a the break.
DeShaunte Longley (Bronx, N.Y.) saw his attempt go wide of frame midway through the third quarter as JWU continued to look to find their way onto the scoreboard. By the final whistle, the #16 Mavericks had captured the 33-0 win.
Threlkeld had 25 saves for Johnson & Wales and had a team high nine ground balls.
The Wildcats will head to Salt Lake City, Utah for a Saturday afternoon contest at Westminster College.
