The Wildcats wrapped up the weekend at Westminster College in Salt Lake City on Saturday.
The host Griffins had two early goals in the opening two minutes of play to set the tone from the first faceoff. At the end of the first quarter, Westminster College held the 9-0 advantage. An attempt by Casey Carrigan (Littleton, Colo.) went wide of frame at 11:50 as JWU looked to get their offense going. The Griffins took a 15-0 lead into the break.
In the second half, Westminster College continued to manage the offensive pace of the contest. Wiley Cates (Montclair, N.J.) and Coleton Threlkeld (Cypress, Texas) combined in goal to limit the opportunities for the Griffins. Jean-Sebastien Vila (Fort Worth, Texas) had an attempt saved late in the game as the Griffins preserved the shutout.
Vila led Johnson & Wales with three ground balls and Threlkeld had six saves. Cates picked up four saves for JWU.
Johnson & Wales will host Colorado State University - Pueblo on Friday, April 13 at 6:00pm at Aurora Sports Park to open their 2018 home schedule.
