DENVER – The Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team was unable to slow down a high-powered Colorado State University-Pueblo squad on Saturday at Aurora Sports Park.
The visiting Thunderwolves, a member of the Division II Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, won their third straight game by defeating the host Wildcats 32-2.
Junior Coleton Threlkeld (Cypress, TX) had a goal and assist for JWU (1-8) while senior Deshaunte Longley (Bronx, NY) had the other score for the Wildcats. Anthony Ferrie and Tommy Vassallo each had five goals for CSU-Pueblo (6-3).
The Thunderwolves scored nine goals in each of the first two quarters to establish a commanding lead, finishing with a 49-18 edge in ground balls and a 55-7 advantage in shots.
Junior Casey Carrigan (Littleton, CO) led JWU with four ground balls while freshmen Reece Kelly (Parker, CO) and Israel Trejo (Aurora, CO) had three apiece. Threlkeld had a team-high three shots and freshman Austin Cruz (Pearland, TX) made 10 saves.
The Wildcats face another RMAC foe next time out, visiting Colorado Mesa on Tuesday.
