DENVER – Deshaunte Longley (Bronx, NY) recorded a hat trick in his final home game as Wildcat on Saturday at Aurora Sports Park, but his three goals weren't enough as the Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team fell 23-4 to visiting Dallas University. Longley was one of two seniors who were recognized before the SCAC matchup along with Robert Wanzer (Poughkeepsie, NY).
Two of Longley's three goals came in the first quarter, the first to get the Wildcats (1-10) on the board to make it 3-1 at the 10:13 mark, the second with 4:58 remaining in the opening frame to make it 6-3.
Junior Coleton Threlkeld (Cypress, TX) also had a first-period score, his 12th marker of the season to cut the deficit to 7-3 with 1:02 on the clock. Longley assisted on Threlkeld's goal, which came with a man up.
The Crusaders (1-8) outscored the Wildcats 8-0 in the second period to open up a 16-3 halftime lead. Tyler Smith scored eight goals and teammate Tucker Jameson had seven to lead Dallas to victory.
Longley scored another unassisted goal in the sixth minute of the third quarter to solidify the hat trick to cap the scoring on the day for JWU.
