Wildcat's rally falls short in Iowa

Johnson & Wales closed out their Iowa roadtrip with a Sunday afternoon matchup against Morningside College.

The Mustangs got on the scoreboard in the 17th minute to lead 1-0. They doubled their lead in the 37th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break. The Mustangs had eight shots in the first half and had three corner kick opportunities.

The Wildcats regouped at halftime and cut into the Mustang's lead in the 55th minute as Kyler Fowkes (Arvada, Colo.) scored from a free kick opportunity. The 'Cats added a second goal just two minutes later as Lucas Prolow (Evergreen, Colo.) took a pass from Fowkes to tie the game at 2-2. The Mustangs broke up the 2-2 draw in the 69th minute to back up 3-2. The 'Cats weren't able to find the equalizer in the waning minutes of the game, falling on the road.

Michael Genge (Broomfield, Colo.) had 10 saves for Johnson & Wales in the contest.

The Wildcats return home next weekend to host Dordt College on Saturday, September 9 at 2:30pm at Aurora Sports Park.
