Wildcats drop road match at Texas Lutheran

Johnson & Wales closed out their last trip to the Lone Star state this season with a Sunday afternoon contest at Texas Lutheran University.

The hosts got their offense going early as Cameron Townes beat Brandon Coder (Longmont, Colo.) with a shot to the bottom left that put the Bulldogs up 1-0 in the sixth minute. TLU kept the pressure on the Johnson & Wales defense, but the Wildcat's stepped up to make the stops and get the deflections to keep it a one goal game for the next 20 minutes. Luis Green doubled the TLU lead in the 28th minute, scoring from 10 yards out. Alexis Araiza (Dallas, Texas) looked to get one back for JWU in the 42nd minute, but TLU's Brendan Soto got the stop to give Texas Lutheran the 2-0 lead at the break.

Ali Mohamed (Djibouti, Djibouti) forced Soto to make the save on his attempt in the 64th minute as JWU continued to search for their first. Araiza had another shot saved in the 66th but Ben Reinarz (Longmont, Colo.) finally broke through in the 73rd. Reinarz notched his first collegiate goal with a header to the bottom right corner from five yards out. The Bulldogs added a third goal in the 83rd minute to secure the 3-1 victory.

Araiza had two shots on goal for Johnson & Wales and Coder finished with three saves.

JWU (5-7-1, 3-7-1 SCAC) will travel to Colorado College (10-5-0, 8-4-0 SCAC) on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00pm MT in their final road game of 2018.
