DENVER – The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team has been tabbed to finish eighth in the SCAC Preseason Predicted Order of Finish, released by the conference on Wednesday.

Seven-time defending league champ Trinity was picked to win the conference crown again, receiving nine of a possible 10 votes from the league's head coaches. The Tigers are also receiving national recognition entering the season, ranked ninth in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Preseason Poll.

Trinity is followed in the SCAC Predicted Order of Finish by Colorado College, Texas Lutheran (who received the other first-place vote), Southwestern, Dallas, Austin and St. Thomas. Schreiner and Centenary were picked to finish behind JWU Denver in ninth and 10th place, respectively.

Under the direction of second-year head coach Andy Kohel, the Wildcats will open the 2019 season Friday, Aug. 30 against Luther College in a neutral site game hosted by Colorado College.

JWU Denver opens SCAC play Friday, Sept. 13 against league newcomer St. Thomas. The Wildcats went 7-9-1 last season and finished 5-9-1 in their inaugural SCAC campaign. Kohel's team returns a pair of student-athletes who earned all-conference honorable mention in 2018 in sophomore goalie Brandon Coder and junior midfielder Emad Bashir-Muhammad.
