DALLAS – The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team wrapped up non-conference play with a 2-0 loss to Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday night in a neutral-site matchup at UT Dallas.
The Wildcats found themselves in another early hole when HSU's Kiko Redondo scored in the seventh minute to give the Cowboys an early lead. JWU junior Emad Bashir-Mohammed put on shot on net in the 21st minute, but his attempt was stopped by HSU keeper Rafa Mejorado, who finished with three saves.
Freshman Albara Mutleq tried Mejorado again 10 minutes later but his shot to the top-right corner was turned away. The Wildcats' final scoring chance of the first half came 10 minutes later off the foot of freshman Josh Guzman.
JWU had a pair of corners in the second half but could never put another shot on net. Sophomore Brandon Coder made four saves in net for JWU.
The Wildcats will open their home schedule Friday in their SCAC opener against league newcomer St. Thomas (4 p.m.).
